What this course offers

This course supports you to learn and improve techniques and strategies for studying Functional Skills Maths. It is open to learners aged 19+ (in August 2026) with few or no qualifications.

The course takes place on Mondays.

What you’ll learn

You will learn how to:

  • Increase your confidence in working with numbers and develop maths skills
  • Develop useful strategies and techniques for studying Functional Skills Maths, including time management, organising resources and reflecting on your learning
  • Gain a better understanding of the calculation methods taught in Numeracy and Maths, helping you to support children’s learning where relevant
  • Use basic mathematical operations in daily life, including shopping, bills and budget planning
  • Develop digital skills through interactive online activities and the learning platform Padlet

What happens next

By the end of the course, you will be better prepared for studying Functional Skills Maths. You will have developed confidence with numbers, practical maths skills for everyday life, and useful strategies for learning and study.
