What this course offers

This course is for Bristol residents aged 19 and over with few or no qualifications who are looking for a career working with young people. It leads to a Level 2 Certificate in Understanding Children, Young People and Mental Health and is focused on developing skills and knowledge that can support employment in a range of settings.

The course will take place on Thursdays from 24 September 2026 to 1 April 2027.

There will also be additional online sessions, with dates and times to be confirmed.

  • Factors that may affect children and young people’s mental health
  • Children and young people’s mental health concerns and the impact of these concerns
  • Skills to support children and young people with their concerns

What happens next

On successful completion, you will gain a Level 2 Certificate in Understanding Children, Young People and Mental Health. The course can support progression into employment working with young people or further learning.
