What this course offers

This free 10-week course is designed to help you gain the skills, knowledge and confidence needed to become a self-employed gardener. Through a mix of classroom-based learning and practical sessions, you will learn the skills needed for basic garden maintenance tasks. Sessions take place on Fridays from 10am to 1pm.

Who this is for

The course is open to people aged 18 to 25 who are not in education, employment or training (NEET), as well as people who have experienced long-term unemployment or mental health challenges and earn less than £21,000 full-time equivalent salary.

Some previous knowledge and experience of horticulture is recommended.

What happens next

You will be equipped with the skills needed to start out as a self-employed gardener and carry out basic garden maintenance tasks. You may also have the opportunity to progress onto a supported work placement within the organisation’s gardening business.
