What this programme offers
The Women into Home Building Programme introduces women to a career in site management. Designed by the home building industry, it includes a Virtual Insight Week (week commencing 2 November 2026) followed by a two-week in-person placement (weeks commencing 9 November and 16 November 2026) shadowing a Site Manager.
Applications close on 20 September 2026 at midnight. Placement opportunities are available in Bristol, Exeter and Cornwall, and support with childcare and travel costs is available.
Who this programme is for
This programme is for women interested in home building, construction or site management. Applications are welcome from women from all backgrounds, including career returners, career changers, women already working in the industry, those new to construction and those looking for a fresh challenge.
What you’ll do
- Learn the basics of home building and key terminology
- Learn about health and safety and modern methods of construction
- Find out what to expect on site
- Meet employers and hear from industry role models
- Shadow a Site Manager during a two-week placement
- Meet onsite teams and experience what life in site management is really like
- Build industry knowledge and connect with industry professionals
What happens next
The programme offers an opportunity to explore a career in home building or site management and connect with potential employers. Jobs are not guaranteed after the placement, but previous cohorts have seen 40% of women go on to receive a job offer.
Eligibility
To apply, you must:
- Be aged 18 or over
- Have the right to work in the UK and provide evidence at application stage
- Have the legal right to drive in the UK and access to a vehicle for the full three-week programme
- Have achieved Maths and English GCSE Grade 4/C or above (or equivalent)
- Be available for the full programme, including online insight and training sessions (2 to 6 November 2026) and a two-week work placement (9 to 20 November 2026)
