What this programme offers
Future Ready is a skills and employability programme for people aged 18-21 in Bath & North East Somerset who are not currently in education, employment or training.
Through personalised, in-person support and access to a range of real work opportunities, the programme is designed to help you build the essential skills and experience for future work you truly care about.
Training and support available
- One-to-one careers support: regular weekly sessions from the same coach, tailored around your goals and circumstances
- Practical support: advice and guidance with things such as housing, money, benefits, ID, travel, registering with a GP and accessing mental health support
- Confidence building: friendly group sessions and activities designed to help you build confidence and independence
- Skills development: support to develop life skills, digital skills, CV writing and interview skills
- Volunteering and work experience: opportunities to gain practical experience, meet employers and try out different types of work through work tasters and placements
- Your next steps: help with job or training applications, go with you to visits and appointments when you’re ready
How you’ll be supported
The support programme is flexible and built around your needs. Your coach will take time to understand what matters to you, what might be getting in the way and what you want to achieve.
You can meet somewhere you feel comfortable, including in the community, where you live or online. Together you’ll agree small, realistic steps that feel manageable.
When you move into work, education or training, you can keep in touch for up to six months.
What happens next
After getting in touch with the team, the first step is meeting your coach, getting to know each other and talking about what you’d like to work towards. From there, you’ll create a plan together and start taking steps towards your goals.
